HHA Interview: Duty (aka Sante, Doctor Dickhead, Prince Habooboo, etc.)
Duty is a well known HHA vet and an Ave Supermod. Most importantly though, he is a fucking nut bag who can’t decide on one name and likes touching little boys. So I sent Intellekt to interview him, because he scares the shit outta me. Enjoy.

thats cool… how and when did you first get into rap and writing lyrics?
Duty:
my first text battle was about 5-6 years ago, i dunno i was just scoping around on a hip hop site and i see text battles, got interested and started from there.. shit was a lot different to what it is now, everything now is much more advanced. i first listend to rap when i was around 5-6 years old, good old pure hip hop.

lol…anyway, who were your influnces when you first got into rap?
Duty:
when i first started writin?
Duty:
umm, probably, dizzee rascal was a big influence on me, eminem, nas, jay z, ludacris was comin around he was makin a big noise, outkast, big pun, cuban link, i would say dre, but his beats were the main thing that interested me, chamillionaire has had a little influence on me, common.. theres so many.

alright what do you feel has changed about hip-hop since then till now?
Duty:
ideas got played out, thugs try runnin shit now. i mean youve always had like nwa n shit and nwa were fuckin great, dont get me wrong, because they were like the pioneers of that gangsta rap shit but everyone else has just gotten petty with it.. there is still true emcees out there but they just aint what labels are lookin for.. i think the BIGGEST disappointment in hip hop is the record labels…

Are you thinking of pursuing rap as an actual career?
Duty:
lol nah blud, i mean sure itd be nice n shit, but i dont think itd suit me, imo.. i can write lyrics n shit but im pretty fuckin lazy.. ill probably be a builder til i die, tbh. its always there for a ‘back-up’ plan tho.. right?

nothin, really… my life in the past cuppla years has been a blur, i dont really remember yesterday or last week or nothin, i just live for the moment, why dwell on the past? the past is dead, ya get me? live for now!
